I made a post earlier today about meal I had at chipotle and it got me thinking. For a few years now, I have been looking at nutritional charts at fast food restaurants for the best fast foods to eat when dieting and these are all things I have had in the back of my mind. Since I am a college student and time is really a luxury for me, fast food is always at the top of my list. Thought I would share this with you guys since it looks like people are asking about fast food all the time.As a reminder, the list of food listed below has calories in mind first, with high protein content in comparison to carbs. My goal with this thread is to give people ideas on what fast food to eat because we all love fast food and we know it is like hell when we can't eat it. Feel free to contribute if you wish.
Chipotle: For those who have one of these franchises near you, the food is awesome. Looking at the calorie breakdown chart, the place is actually really good for dieting as long as you watch out what you are putting in your bol. The burrito tortilla has 290 calories, so please steer away from that. Also avoid the corn and sour cream. In the ingredient list below, you can substitute the steak for chicken with similar calories or pork but the fat content is higher. Black beans can also be substituted for pinto beans if you don't like black beans.
Item: Chipotle Burrito Bol with steak, rice, black beans, fajita peppers, salsa, lettuce.
Nutrition facts: 580 calories, 20g fat, 49g protein, 55g carbohydrates, 13g fiber, 1300 mg sodium.
Jimmy John's Sandwiches: For those of you who are lucky enough to have one of these near you, there is no comparison. Subway has nothing on this. I think Subway sucks. They rob you on meats and their bread has way too many carbs. Jimmy Johns is very unique because they bake french bread fresh right there and it is never over a day old. The bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. This is in my opinion, the best commercial sandwich shop in America that some have never heard of. Do a google search in your area if you have never heard of it as there is probably one near you. One other awesome thing is that these sandwiches are surprisingly filling. When going here, please avoid the mayo and provolone cheese unless your diet merits the additional of it. They also have a 7 grain whole you can have instead of the french bread or an unwich version for people on low carb diets that uses lettuce wraps instead of bread. I am only going to list two below, but they also have the Pepe which is ham and a few others.
Item: #2 Big John with French Roll, Roast Beef, Lettuce, Tomatoes, and onions. I exclude the mayo for obvious reasons
Nutrition facts: 340 Calories, 3g fat, 26g protein, 46g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, 840mg sodium
Nutrition facts with double meat: 420 Calories, 6g fat, 41g protein, 46g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, 1240g sodium
Item: #4 Turkey Tom with French Roll, smoked turkey, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce, tomato and onions. I exclude mayo again
Nutrition facts: 322 Calories, 24g protein, 51g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, 920mg sodium
Nutrition facts with double meat: 378 calories, 37g protein, 51g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, 1404mg sodium.
Wendys: I don't think Wendy's is as bad as people say it is, although when I eat there I would only stick to the two meals below. In general though, I would really try to stay away from the big time commercialized burger and fry establishments.
Item: 2x Grilled Check Go Wraps and a side salad
Nutritional facts: 630 Calories, 28g fat, 37g protein, 60g carbohydrates, 6g fiber, 1850mg sodium
Mcdonalds: Only thing I get here when I diet is the bacon ranch salad. People don't realize but the salads at mcdonalds are REALLY good.
Item: Bacon ranch salad with crispy fried chicken, dressing not included. You should NEVER use the whole dressing packet, maybe 1/4 to a 1/2 which would be around 75 calories or so.
Nutritional Facts: 370 calories, 20g fat, 29g protein, 20g carbohydrates, 3g fiber, 970mg sodium
Taco Bell: Chicken is the way to go
Item: 3x Chicken Soft Taco with cheese. If you choose to leave the cheese, that is -90 calories.
Nutritional Facts: 600 calories, 24g fat, 36g protein, 57g carbohydrates, 3g fiber, alot of salt unfortunately.
