Dieting Food Good

Okay, let's face it. We are a fat nation. Well, at least two-thirds of us are.
Seat sizes have increased in cars, stadiums - even toilets. Many of us require TWO seats on an airplane (or we may be escorted off). Some companies, such as Goliath Caskets, even sell supersized triple-wide caskets for dead obese people. Says one plus size casket store owner, "After 380 pounds you have to go to an oversize." And one out of every 20 caskets she sells is a plus size. Thanks largely to Kevin Smith, the topic of obesity has once again found itself on the front page of news headlines around the globe.
I was a panelist in ABC's FACEOFF this week. The topic: Is it okay to be fat? Many would say, "No, it's not okay." I, however, disagree.
First of all, let me say that that statement, "Is it okay to be fat." Is way to broad for me. OKAY is a term of permission. God has given us free will to make our own decisions. And in this country, we have the freedom to choose our eating behavior - even when sometimes that choice is harmful to us. It all comes down to personal choice. And the choice doesn't seem to be an easy one.
DIETING IS HARD. Food is good. Delicious! Manufacturers have come up with yummy desserts and convenient, pre-packaged snacks. Restaurants offer pizzas and juicy burgers and deep fried shrimp by the mounds that our mouths water for. Grandmothers and mothers and barbecuing dads hold secrets to some of the tastiest recipes that fill our tummies and comfort our souls. Food is good. It's plentiful. Food is the center of every get-together, whether we want to celebrate, mourn, reward or comfort. Not to mention that we HAVE to eat just to survive.
The problem is, we have to have SOME, but not too much; portion size not super size. To lose weight we need to eat less, move more, weigh, measure, plan, track, pre-cook, look up, portion out, refuse, reduce and realize that we have to do this all over again ... tomorrow. But one bad weekend can put back on a week's worth of hard-earned weight loss! It comes back ON a lot quicker than it goes OFF! How are we EVER going to GET all our excess weight off?! And when we do, then what? Do this forEVER?! DIETING IS SO HARD!
So, what's the alternative? Remain overweight? Think about it: no more obsessing about WHAT to eat, HOW MUCH to eat, WHERE to eat or WHAT'S IN what we eat. Aaaaaah that's what I'm talking about! So much easier! Or, is it?
BEING FAT IS HARD. How many sizes of clothes are in your closet-your attic? What hurts-your back, knees, feet or hips? What about the emotional pain? We look for someone to hide behind in pictures, dragging unwilling children onto our laps. Wait a minute ... WHAT laps? My stomach came to the end of my knees when I sat down. I couldn't buckle up in a car or tie my own shoes. There were times where I couldn't get in my car because another had parked too close. I wanted to ride horses with my daughter and go bike riding with my sons. My children loved me, but heard whispers from classmates about my size. My husband told me I was beautiful, but I didn't feel it inside. I hated being a huffing and puffing, exhausted wife who wasted money we didn't have on food binges and diet schemes. The guilt!
The truth is, if you have any kind of food "issue" or addiction, that area of your life will be difficult.
The other truth is ... you CAN get to goal and stay there forEVER. Difficult and impossible are two completely different things.
So, is it okay to be fat? Here's my opinion: Yes. Can you be healthy and fat? No. But you DO have a choice.
Dieting is hard. Being fat is hard. CHOOSE YOUR HARD.
What's YOUR opinion?
give it a little more time.maybe wait a month, and weigh yourself then.
it takes a little bit of time for your body to lose weight, especially if your lighter.
a tip i can give you is spread your meals throughout the day to speed your metabolism up, this will burn your food way more.
try not to diet either, because once you reach your goal weight its soo easy to put the weight back on because your depriving your body of having carbs/treatsu and it starts to crave it.
its happened with me.
also its mostly sugar that puts weight on, not so much fat. depending on how much fruit your eating, your body may be getting too much sugar, so balance this out with negative carb vegetables (celery, cucumber)
Oxalate Content Food
Mar0
Require Oxalate content on foods (Spinach, beer). Oxalates produce kidney stones in many people. High oxalate content foods can be offset with calcium taken at the same time as the offending food. The calcium binds with oxalates and prevents their absorption. Also, I clicked on "Is this a favorite idea?" because I have no idea what you mean by this and your help page did not address it. iOxalate
This application is for those who have suffered from Kidney stones or Gallbladder stones due to Calcium Oxalate stones.
Foods are categorized according to the oxalate content. Foods low in oxalate can be consumed in unlimited amounts. However, common sense needs to prevail. For example, distilled alcohol, though low in oxalate, should not be consumed in unlimited quantities.
This application helps you to follow a low oxalate diet by eliminating foods very high in oxalate and eating those with moderate oxalate content in limited amounts.
This application does not have any recipes. It only contains the names of the foods categorized by oxalate content. You can also search the entire database of foods to find its oxalate content.
* Use it in a grocery store while shopping
* To lookup the food when you are in a restaurant
* When cooking to reduce the foods high in oxalate content
Low Fat Diet Food List

I made a post earlier today about meal I had at chipotle and it got me thinking. For a few years now, I have been looking at nutritional charts at fast food restaurants for the best fast foods to eat when dieting and these are all things I have had in the back of my mind. Since I am a college student and time is really a luxury for me, fast food is always at the top of my list. Thought I would share this with you guys since it looks like people are asking about fast food all the time.
As a reminder, the list of food listed below has calories in mind first, with high protein content in comparison to carbs. My goal with this thread is to give people ideas on what fast food to eat because we all love fast food and we know it is like hell when we can't eat it. Feel free to contribute if you wish.
Chipotle: For those who have one of these franchises near you, the food is awesome. Looking at the calorie breakdown chart, the place is actually really good for dieting as long as you watch out what you are putting in your bol. The burrito tortilla has 290 calories, so please steer away from that. Also avoid the corn and sour cream. In the ingredient list below, you can substitute the steak for chicken with similar calories or pork but the fat content is higher. Black beans can also be substituted for pinto beans if you don't like black beans.
Item: Chipotle Burrito Bol with steak, rice, black beans, fajita peppers, salsa, lettuce.
Nutrition facts: 580 calories, 20g fat, 49g protein, 55g carbohydrates, 13g fiber, 1300 mg sodium.
Jimmy John's Sandwiches: For those of you who are lucky enough to have one of these near you, there is no comparison. Subway has nothing on this. I think Subway sucks. They rob you on meats and their bread has way too many carbs. Jimmy Johns is very unique because they bake french bread fresh right there and it is never over a day old. The bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. This is in my opinion, the best commercial sandwich shop in America that some have never heard of. Do a google search in your area if you have never heard of it as there is probably one near you. One other awesome thing is that these sandwiches are surprisingly filling. When going here, please avoid the mayo and provolone cheese unless your diet merits the additional of it. They also have a 7 grain whole you can have instead of the french bread or an unwich version for people on low carb diets that uses lettuce wraps instead of bread. I am only going to list two below, but they also have the Pepe which is ham and a few others.
Item: #2 Big John with French Roll, Roast Beef, Lettuce, Tomatoes, and onions. I exclude the mayo for obvious reasons
Nutrition facts: 340 Calories, 3g fat, 26g protein, 46g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, 840mg sodium
Nutrition facts with double meat: 420 Calories, 6g fat, 41g protein, 46g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, 1240g sodium
Item: #4 Turkey Tom with French Roll, smoked turkey, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce, tomato and onions. I exclude mayo again
Nutrition facts: 322 Calories, 24g protein, 51g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, 920mg sodium
Nutrition facts with double meat: 378 calories, 37g protein, 51g carbohydrates, 1g fiber, 1404mg sodium.
Wendys: I don't think Wendy's is as bad as people say it is, although when I eat there I would only stick to the two meals below. In general though, I would really try to stay away from the big time commercialized burger and fry establishments.
Item: 2x Grilled Check Go Wraps and a side salad
Nutritional facts: 630 Calories, 28g fat, 37g protein, 60g carbohydrates, 6g fiber, 1850mg sodium
Mcdonalds: Only thing I get here when I diet is the bacon ranch salad. People don't realize but the salads at mcdonalds are REALLY good.
Item: Bacon ranch salad with crispy fried chicken, dressing not included. You should NEVER use the whole dressing packet, maybe 1/4 to a 1/2 which would be around 75 calories or so.
Nutritional Facts: 370 calories, 20g fat, 29g protein, 20g carbohydrates, 3g fiber, 970mg sodium
Taco Bell: Chicken is the way to go
Item: 3x Chicken Soft Taco with cheese. If you choose to leave the cheese, that is -90 calories.
Nutritional Facts: 600 calories, 24g fat, 36g protein, 57g carbohydrates, 3g fiber, alot of salt unfortunately.
